Spring 2020 SMRI Technical Conference, Detroit, Michigan, USA, 26-29 April, 2020

The Call for Papers contains the basic conference schedule and travel information. The optional Technical Class subject will be "Technical Aspects and Considerations for Cavern Abandonment" and will be repeated as part of the Fall 2020 Krakow, Poland Conference.

FIELD TRIPS - Details are provided in the Call for Papers. Field Trip #1 will travel to the Oil Springs Museum in Ontario, Canada, and other stops in the region. Field Trip #2 will travel to the Canadian Salt Co.'s Ojibway Mine in Ontario, Canada. Field Trip #3 will travel to K+S's Windsor Salt operation in Ontario, Canada. All SMRI field trips require participants to have their passport to cross into Canada, be in good physical condition, have ability to walk on rough ground, and dress appropriately as necessary, such as wearing appropriate clothes and steel toe or sturdy shoes).

Conference Registration

On-line registration for members will begin on 18 February, 2020. Non-membership registration will open on 17 March and all registration will close on 7 April. Any late registrations after 7 April will be charged a $250 late fee in addition to the conference fee, if space is available. Please contact Dawn ([email protected]) regarding any questions about registration.

Travel Information

The Conference will be held at the Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center located at Renaissance Center, 400 Renaissance Dr. W, Detroit, MI 48243. Each SMRI participant is responsible to book their own hotel reservations. The SMRI discounted room rate is $159 per night only until our room block is sold out (tax not included).
