Spring 2019 SMRI Technical Conference, New Orleans, Louisiana, USA

The Conference Announcement contains the basic conference schedule and hotel reservation link.  Outdated version was emailed to all members and non-members in our database 21 Jan 2019 (incorrect email addresses for Program Chairs, and hotel registration link did not work). 

The optional Technical Class subject will be "Mechanical Integrity Testing (MIT) and Techniques in Gas and Liquids Storage Caverns."  The Tech Class instructors and subjects list is now available.

There will be four Wednesday field trips and details are provided in the Conference Announcement. Additional information will be emailed to those registered for most of the field trips, including security clearance requirements. All SMRI field trips require participants to be in good physical condition, have ability to walk on rough ground, and dress appropriately as necessary, (such as wearing appropriate clothes and steel toe or sturdy shoes).

Conference registration for members will begin on 4 February and non-member registration will begin on 25 February. Members must be logged in to their profiles to access registration link. Registration will end on 22 March, and 6 March for all field trips.   Please contact Dawn ([email protected]) regarding any questions about registration.

Speakers must e-mail their proposed title with a 200 to 500 word abstract to Eric Busch, 2019 Program Chair, by 30 January 2019. See the Call for Papers for author instructions and details. Travel Information

The Conference will be held at the InterContinental New Orleans located at 444 St Charles Avenue, New Orleans, Louisiana. Each SMRI participant is responsible to book their own hotel reservations. The SMRI discounted room rate is $239 per night until the block is sold out or 14 March. Registration may done via the hotel at https://book.passkey.com/e/49834655 or by calling +1-800-439-4745. Make sure to tell reservations that you are with the "Solution Mining Research Institute" conference group. A 72 hour minimum notice of cancellation is required for a full refund.

New Orleans is served by Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport which is located 11 miles (18 km) west of the city. The hotel does not offer shuttle service to/from the airport. Taxi costs from the airport to the hotel are estimated at $33 (USD).
